Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance company to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb a small ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you could set up on the ground beside the camper truck. This may be more comfortable for both you and your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your camper trucks?
We are able to accommodate 3 people at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or even a map with the nicest locations to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the top places to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, including bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued immediately.
