Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Can you accommodate families with children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an extra camping tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be more suitable for you and also your young children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
The camper trucks fit three individuals at most, although in case there are more within your party, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for as much as five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or even a map with the greatest areas to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the top places to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specified locations with a current camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, like showers, bathrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and also money orders. However, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
