Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. But, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an additional camping tent with each package which you can easily put up on the ground next to your camping truck. This may be much more comfortable for both you and your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
The roof top tent camper trucks sleep 3 people maximum, though if there are more within your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the nicest locations to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the greatest locations to explore and also to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specific locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites could be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, including showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.
Can you recommend any Kauai camp sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you decide to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
