We prefer to work with customers who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.

If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.

Are your roof top tents kids friendly?

Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an additional camping tent with each package which you can put up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This could be more suitable for you and also your young ones.

What is the max. capacity of your trucks?

We could accommodate 3 individuals maximum, though in case there are more in your group, we do provide an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate up to five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.

Are you offering surfboards?

Certainly, Kauai Rooftop Campers offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just let us know in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.

You could go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the best places to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?

It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.

If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
