Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We try to do business with customers who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance company to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent camper trucks kids friendly?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also provide an additional camping tent with each package which you could put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for you and your children.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping vehicles?
The camper vehicles fit three people maximum, though if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily fit about five individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach front for camping?
You may go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the ideal locations to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you decide to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them immediately.
