Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any age limits to rent from you?

We would rather like to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.

If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.

Are your roof top tents family friendly?

Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This can be more comfortable for you and your kids.

What is the maximum capacity of your camper trucks?

We can fit 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for as much as 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

Are you offering surfboards?

Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.

Can we get a travel guide or a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?

Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and go camping on Kauai.

Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits

Can I visit any beach for camping?

You may go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the top locations to explore and to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.

Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, what is the charge?

No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private camp sites could be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, including showers, washrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Can you suggest any Kauai camp sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?

It is a better to get your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.

If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.

Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.

How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?

Whether you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. You may opt to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
