Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider contacting your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are you able to accommodate families who have children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an extra camping tent with each package which you can easily set up on the ground. This may be much more comfortable for you as well as your children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We can accommodate 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit as much as five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Certainly, we provide surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach front for camping?
You could go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the best places to explore and also to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just go to official camping sites? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.
Can you recommend any Kauai campsites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given right away.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
