Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an extra tent with each package which you may put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for both you as well as your young ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
The roof top tent camper vehicles sleep three people maximum, though if there are more within your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide or a map with the nicest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Greatest Locations For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will provide you with a list of the top places to explore and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in designated locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have full access to facilities, including bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But it’s not necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.
