FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, try contacting your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you as well as your young ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping trucks?
The roof top tent camper trucks fit 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Top Places For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will provide you with a list of the top locations to check out and to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only go camping in designated locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campsites may be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, including bathrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please note that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
