Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with every package which you can put up on the ground next to the camper truck. This could be much more comfortable for you as well as your children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
The camper trucks fit 3 people at most, though in case there are more in your party, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or perhaps a map with the best places to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and camp out on Kauai.
Greatest Locations For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach front to camp?
You can go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the greatest locations to check out and also to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specified locations with a current camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to amenities, like washrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. But it is not necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.
