Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an extra tent with each package which you could set up on the ground. This may be more suitable for both you as well as your children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
Our roof top tent camping vehicles sleep 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide or even a map with the nicest beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the best places to visit and also to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specific locations with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, but private campsites could be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have total access to facilities, such as washrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please note that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
