Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your situation, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent camping vehicles family friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also offer an extra tent with each of our packages which you may put up on the ground beside your camping truck. This can be more suitable for both you and your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
Our camper trucks fit 3 individuals at most, though if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or perhaps a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will supply you with a list of the ideal locations to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with a current camping permit. The fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have complete access to amenities, including showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
What camping grounds do you recommend with the rooftop tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued right away.
