Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults who have kids?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an additional tent with each package which you can easily set up on the ground next to the camper truck. This could be much more comfortable for both you and also your young ones.
How many individuals can your camper trucks fit?
We are able to accommodate three people at most, although if there are more within your group, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily fit about 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or perhaps a map with the nicest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will provide you with a list of the ideal locations to explore and also to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to go to designated camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specific areas with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have complete access to amenities, including showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
Could you suggest any Kauai camp sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. However, you don’t have to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
