We prefer to work with clients who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. But, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.

If you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.

Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?

Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground next to the camping truck. This could be more suitable for both you and also your children.

How many people can your camper trucks accommodate?

We are able to fit 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

Can you provide surfboards?

Can I visit any beach front to camp?

You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will provide you with a list of the top places to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You may only camp in official areas with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have full access to amenities, including showers, washrooms & picnic tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also in person in the designated office.

If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.

Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t have to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.

How much time does it take to get the camping permits?

Whether you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to get your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
