We try to do business with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your situation, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.

If you are below twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.

Could you accommodate families who have children?

Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground next to the camping truck. This may be more comfortable for you as well as your young children.

How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?

The camping trucks sleep 3 individuals at most, although if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

What about surfboards?

Am I able to go to any beach front for camping?

You may drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the top places to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the charge?

No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in official locations with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private camp sites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, such as washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please remember that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.

If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.

In advance, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and also money orders. But it isn’t necessary to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.

What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?

If you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible.
