What is the minimum age to rent from you?

We try to work with clients who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.

If you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.

Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?

Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an extra camping tent with every package which you could put up on the ground beside the camping vehicle. This can be more convenient for you as well as your little ones.

What is the max. capacity of your trucks?

The camping trucks sleep 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit about five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

Can you provide surfboards?

Can I go to any beach for camping?

You can go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the greatest locations to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specified locations with secured camping permits. The fee is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have full access to facilities, including showers, washrooms and picnic tables. Please note that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?

It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.

If you choose to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.

In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.

How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?

If you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
