Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Absolutely! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also provide an additional tent with every package which you can set up on the ground. This can be more convenient for both you and your kids.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
We are able to fit three people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do have an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or even a map with the best beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Top Locations For Camping On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will supply you with a list of the best locations to check out and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only camp in official locations with a current camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites could be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to amenities, such as washrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it is not necessary to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued right away.
