Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance provider to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also provide an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This could be more convenient for you and your young ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
Our camping trucks sleep three people maximum, although in case there are more in your party, we do have an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Just inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or even a map with the best beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the greatest locations to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You may only go camping in designated areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds could be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have full access to amenities, including washrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license prior to your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and money orders. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.
