Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are below twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are you able to accommodate adults with children?
Yes! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we provide an extra tent with each package which you can set up on the ground next to your camping truck. This may be more comfortable for both you and your children.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
The camper trucks fit 3 individuals at most, although if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or even a map with the greatest places to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and go camping on Kauai.
Greatest Places For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll give you a list of the ideal places to explore and to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campsites is that you have total access to amenities, including showers, restrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please remember that if you choose to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on the spot.
