Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based on your needs, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Could you accommodate families with kids?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also provide an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you could put up on the ground next to your camping truck. This can be more convenient for you and also your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
We could fit three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your party, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us up-front if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or even a map with the greatest areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Best Places For Camping On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You may go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the greatest locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, like showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. But it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you decide to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. You may opt to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them right away.
