Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground beside your camping truck. This may be more suitable for you and also your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
We can accommodate three people at most, though if there are more within your party, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide or even a map with the nicest hiking trails and beaches to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Ideal Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach front for camping?
You can go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal locations to check out and also to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only visit official camping grounds? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You should only camp in specific locations with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given right away.
