We prefer to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.

In case you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.

Can you accommodate families with kids?

Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an extra tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This can be more convenient for both you and your children.

Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits

Am I able to go to any beach for camping?

You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the top places to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?

No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official areas with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have total access to facilities, such as restrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.

If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.

Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and money orders. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.

What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?

If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
