Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, try contacting your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tent camper trucks kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you could put up on the ground beside your camping vehicle. This can be more convenient for both you as well as your little ones.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
The camping trucks fit three people at most, although if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for up to 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide book or even a map with the nicest places to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Greatest Places For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the best locations to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to designated camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in designated areas with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camp sites could be a bit more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to facilities, like washrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t have to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How much time does it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
