Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your situation, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are you able to accommodate families with kids?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an additional tent with every package which you can put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for you and your young children.
How many individuals can your camper trucks accommodate?
We could accommodate 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or perhaps a map with the best locations to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the best locations to visit and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have total access to amenities, such as showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued right away.
