FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you could set up on the ground next to the camper truck. This may be much more comfortable for you and also your young children.
How many people can your camper trucks fit?
Our roof top tent camping vehicles sleep 3 people at most, though if there are more in your group, we do have an extra camping tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just let us know in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Best Locations For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the best places to visit and also to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only camp in designated areas with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have total access to facilities, like showers, washrooms & picnic dining tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you decide to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on the spot.
