Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an additional camping tent with each package which you can easily put up on the ground next to your camper truck. This may be more comfortable for both you as well as your little ones.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
Our camping vehicles fit three individuals maximum, though if there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for about five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or even a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Finest Places For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will supply you with a list of the top places to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private camping grounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, including bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued immediately.
