Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional tent with each of our packages which you can put up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This may be much more comfortable for both you as well as your kids.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
The roof top tent camping vehicles fit three people at most, though if there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for about five individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or even a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only camp in specified locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as bathrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
