FAQs
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider contacting your insurance company to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you may put up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This could be much more comfortable for you and your kids.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
We are able to fit 3 individuals at most, although in case there are more within your party, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the greatest locations to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Finest Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the best places to visit and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to go to designated camping sites? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private camp sites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have total access to facilities, like showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
