Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are you able to accommodate adults who have children?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an extra tent with each of our packages which you can set up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for both you as well as your young children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
Our camping vehicles sleep three people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or even a map with the best areas to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Best Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach front for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to visit and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to designated camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have total access to amenities, like bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license prior to your trip. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
