FAQs
Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based on your situation, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Can you accommodate adults who have kids?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional tent with each package which you can easily set up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This can be much more comfortable for you and your young children.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
The roof top tent camper vehicles sleep 3 people maximum, although if there are more in your party, we do provide an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or even a map with the nicest locations to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach front for camping?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the ideal locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to amenities, like washrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. But you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given immediately.
