Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have children?
Yes! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an additional tent with all of our packages which you may put up on the ground. This can be more convenient for both you as well as your little ones.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
The camping vehicles sleep three people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit as much as 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or even a map with the best beaches and hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the top locations to check out and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only visit official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You may only camp in designated areas with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, like restrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, it is not necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to get your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them right away.
