Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, try checking with your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this is an issue, we offer an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground. This could be more suitable for you and also your children.
How many people can your camper trucks accommodate?
We can fit 3 individuals at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do offer an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for about five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or perhaps a map with the nicest locations to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see and go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Locations For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the ideal places to visit and also to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only camp in designated areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. But it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How much time does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
