Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Could you accommodate families with kids?
Absolutely! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an additional camping tent with all of our packages which you could set up on the ground beside your camper truck. This may be much more comfortable for both you as well as your kids.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
Our camper vehicles sleep 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit as much as 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the top places to check out and also to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as showers, bathrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. However, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You may also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
