Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your situation, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families with children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we offer an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This could be more comfortable for both you and also your young children.
How many people can your camper trucks fit?
We are able to fit three individuals at most, although in case there are more in your party, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit about 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the nicest beaches and hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the best places to explore and to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in specified locations with a current camping permit. The charge is roughly $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have total access to amenities, such as bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a better to get your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. But you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given immediately.
