FAQs
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Indeed! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this is a concern, we also offer an additional tent with every package which you can set up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you and your young children.
The camping trucks sleep three people at most, though if there are more within your party, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just let us know in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & go camping on Kauai.
You may go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only camp in specific areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, like bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
If you decide to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
