Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We try to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurer to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Absolutely! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this is an issue, we also offer an additional tent with each of our packages which you can put up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This may be much more comfortable for both you and also your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
We are able to fit three individuals maximum, though if there are more in your party, we do have an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily fit up to 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the nicest areas to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Top Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach front for camping?
You could go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the greatest locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in specified areas with a current camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds may be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, like showers, bathrooms & picnic tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are bank checks as well as money orders. But it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
