FAQs
What is the minimum age to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance provider to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are you able to accommodate families with children?
Absolutely! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This can be more suitable for both you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
The camper vehicles fit three people maximum, although in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or a map with the greatest places to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have total access to facilities, including bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
What campgrounds do you suggest with the rooftop tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You may choose to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
