Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have children?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also provide an additional camping tent with each package which you may set up on the ground beside the camper vehicle. This may be more convenient for you as well as your young ones.
How many people can your camping vehicles accommodate?
We could fit 3 individuals at most, although if there are more within your party, we do provide an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as five individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will provide you with a list of the greatest locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have full access to amenities, like showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
