FAQs
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We try to do business with customers who are 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Can you accommodate adults who have kids?
Certainly! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an additional tent with each package which you could put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for both you as well as your little ones.
How many people can your camper trucks fit?
The camping vehicles fit three people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for as much as five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Just tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or perhaps a map with the greatest hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to check out and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to designated camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You may only camp in specified locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, like showers, bathrooms and picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
