Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, try checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an additional tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your children.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles accommodate?
We are able to fit three people maximum, though in case there are more within your party, we do offer an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for up to five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Just inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or even a map with the nicest beaches and hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will supply you with a list of the greatest places to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to go to designated camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only go camping in specified locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have full access to amenities, including showers, restrooms & picnic dining tables. Please note that if you decide to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.
What campsites do you recommend with the rooftop tent?
- Kōkeʻe State Park (need camping permit): Kokee Rd, Hwy 550, Kekaha, HI 96752

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. However, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
