Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. But, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurance provider to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we provide an extra tent with every package which you may put up on the ground. This can be more comfortable for both you and also your children.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
We could fit three people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do offer an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to fit about 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the best beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Top Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the top places to visit and to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in official areas with a current camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have full access to amenities, including showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. However, it is not necessary to book your camping permits before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.
