Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Can you accommodate adults who have children?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an extra tent with each of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your little ones.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
We can accommodate three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate up to 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or a map with the nicest places to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You may go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will provide you with a list of the top places to visit and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specific locations with a current camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have full access to amenities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you choose to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camp sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are bank checks and money orders. However, it is not absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You may opt to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
