FAQs
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Can you accommodate adults with kids?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb one small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an extra tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground beside your camping vehicle. This may be more convenient for you as well as your young children.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping trucks?
Our camper vehicles sleep three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your party, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for about 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide or perhaps a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will supply you with a list of the best locations to visit and also to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You can only camp in specified locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, such as showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and money orders. However, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you decide to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
