Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can set up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This can be much more comfortable for you as well as your children.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
We could fit three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Just tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the greatest locations to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the greatest places to check out and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only visit official camping grounds? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have total access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But it isn’t necessary to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You can also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time does it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
