Are there any age limits to rent from you?

We prefer to do business with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.

In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider contacting your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.

Could you accommodate families with kids?

Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also provide an extra camping tent with every package which you may put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you and also your children.

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see and go camping on Kauai.

Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ

Am I able to go to any beach for camping?

You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest places to explore and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?

No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You may only camp in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to facilities, like washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?

It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.

If you decide to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.

Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.

What is the processing time for getting camping permits?

Whether you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
