FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your situation, whenever we can, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an additional camping tent with each package which you can easily put up on the ground next to the camping truck. This could be much more comfortable for you and your children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
The roof top tent camping trucks fit 3 individuals maximum, though in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for as much as five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Just inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or even a map with the greatest places to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal places to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit official camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in specified locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, like restrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a better to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
