Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an extra tent with each package which you can easily put up on the ground. This can be more suitable for both you and your young ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
Our camper vehicles sleep 3 people at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Greatest Places For Camping On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the ideal places to visit and to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to go to official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in designated areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, like showers, restrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t necessary to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
