Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also offer an extra camping tent with each package which you may put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This can be more comfortable for you and your little ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
The camper vehicles sleep three people maximum, although if there are more in your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily fit about five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we provide surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or even a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach front for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal places to visit and to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have full access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Could you recommend any Kauai camp sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you decide to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.
