Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, consider checking with your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is an issue, we provide an extra tent with every package which you could set up on the ground. This may be much more comfortable for you and your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
We can fit three people maximum, though in case there are more in your party, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or even a map with the best places to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Ideal Places For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal locations to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only go to designated camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in official areas with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have total access to amenities, including bathrooms, showers & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. But it isn’t necessary to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might choose to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
