Commonly Asked Questions

Is there a minimum age to rent from you?

We try to do business with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. However, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.

In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.

Could you accommodate adults who have kids?

Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we provide an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you could put up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for you and also your young children.

How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?

We could fit three people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for about 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.

Do you offer surfboards?

Yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Just inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we receive a travel guide or a map with the greatest hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.

Ideal Spots For Camping On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits

Can I head to any beach front for camping?

You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the best places to explore and to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.

Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?

No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specific areas with a current camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, but private campsites may be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have total access to amenities, such as washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please note that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?

It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.

If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.

In advance, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.

How long does it take to get the camping permits?

If you choose to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
